Kathmandu (14 February 2018) ─ JICA together with Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) implemented the project “The Study on Earthquake Disaster Mitigation in the Kathmandu Valley” in 2002. There was a need based requirement to update the results of the 2002 project in accordance with the changes of urban environment. In this circumstance, “The Project for Assessment of Earthquake Disaster Risk for the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal (ERAKV)” was designed. When the project was just about to commence, Gorkha Earthquake occurred in April, 2015. The project components were modified accordingly to address the changed scenario due to the earthquake.
